General Settings
Settings Section
The settings section of the CMS allows the administrator to manage various configurations and settings of the application. In this section, the administrator can perform tasks such as putting the application in maintenance mode, flushing the cache, and managing brand settings.
Maintenance Mode
The maintenance mode feature allows the administrator to put the application in maintenance mode for performing maintenance tasks or making changes to the site. When the application is in maintenance mode, the visitors will see a maintenance message or a custom page.
To enable maintenance mode, follow these steps:
- Log in to the CMS with administrator credentials.
- Go to the Settings section.
- Click on the Maintenance Mode tab.
- Enable the maintenance mode option.
- Enter the maintenance message or upload a custom page.
- Save the changes.
Cache Management
The CMS uses caching to improve the performance of the application. However, sometimes it may be necessary to flush the cache, especially the Redis cache. Flushing the cache clears all the cached data and forces the application to regenerate the cache.
To flush the cache, follow these steps:
- Log in to the CMS with administrator credentials.
- Go to the Settings section.
- Click on the Cache Management tab.
- Select the cache type that you want to flush.
- Click on the Flush Cache button.
- Wait for the process to complete.
Brand Settings
The brand settings feature allows the administrator to manage the branding elements of the site, such as the brand logo or other branding elements.
To manage brand settings, follow these steps:
- Log in to the CMS with administrator credentials.
- Go to the Settings section.
- Click on the Brand Settings tab.
- Update the branding elements as per your requirement.
- Save the changes.
Best Practices
Here are some best practices for using the settings section:
- Take backups before making any major changes to the settings.
- Test the changes in a staging environment before applying them to the live site.
- Use caution while using maintenance mode as it can affect the user experience.
Troubleshooting
If you face any issues while using the settings section, refer to the following troubleshooting tips:
- Check if the cache has been flushed properly.
- Make sure that the maintenance mode has been disabled after completing the maintenance tasks.
- Check if the branding elements are updated correctly.
By following these steps, you can easily manage the settings section of your open source CMS.
